In my last post, I said that I was reading the world-renowned book, Moby Dick by Herman Melville. At this point as I am on chapter 11, I feel good about this book. It piques my interest and has good use of sensory details as I was able to feel and visualize the scenes depicted in the book. One of my favorite aspects of the book was chapter 9, also known as The Sermon. That chapter gave me new perspectives on the book of Jonah and the character Jonah himself. There were many scenes in that chapter that stood to me, but a specific quote caught my attention. It was on page 76, “He (Jonah) leaves all of his deliverance to God, contenting himself with this, that spite of all his pains and pangs, he will still look towards His holy temple.”
One challenge I faced when reading the book so far was the language used throughout the book so far. I am fine with language used in the book because I read the KJV version of the Bible. But the sailor lingo used in the book so far has confused me and perplexed my understanding of the book by a bit. To conclude, I feel great about this book, and I hope to finish this book and to feel satisfied as if it was worth it to spend my time reading it.
