Technology impact project

Hey, bloggers for this week’s blog I’m going to be talking about how social media over the years has made us ignorant (dumb). To start on this topic, I want to define ignorance as “lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about a particular thing.” With social media, you have to build a feed but the problem with this is that it limits what you can see to what you want to see, and that is where the problem begins because when you can only see what you want you only hear opinions that support the side your on which cause you to not be able to hear other’s opinions on the subject. An example of this exact situation is when I saw a tiktoker interview college students on who they voted for and why and most of them said Kamala but when asked why, they answered on a lot of things that she did which was great but the interviewer rebuttal the statements they said about her but since they didn’t know much about the opposing side of the election they could not answer and were instead left speechless.

Now the way we can solve this is by being aware of the situations around us and breaking the cycle of misinformation and echo chambers. To solve this, we can set screen time and prioritize real-life information over the internet’s lies. “One of the key reasons social media has contributed to the rise of ignorance is the ease with which misinformation and false claims can spread,” said Evangeline Carrington on LinkedIn. Which is why we should prioritize the lies people spread.

                                                                                           Reflection

  1. My reaction to the project was very eye-opening even though I chose the topic I learned many new things which is why I consider it a success.
  2. If I were to retake this project I would either make more paragraphs or choose another topic.
  3. I feel like my project did make a positive impact on anyone who reads it because I believe it is very eye-opening and gives good advice to the reader.
  4. Honestly yes the project was pretty easy with the proper preparation I was done with it quickly.
