Staying fit with Tech (Technology Impact Project)

A pretty common issue that we see plenty of these days is not getting around and moving as much. I’m always hearing my parents talking about how much time I spend sitting down for whatever I do, and at some point, I just have to agree with them. The worst part is that I’m not the only one guilty for my lack of physical activity. A lot of us, if not most of us, also are victims of spending too much time sitting down and not getting our blood flowing. This topic is even talked about in my HOPE class. But what is the reason behind this issue?

One could answer that maybe we haven’t been forced to move around as much because our daily tasks have just become that much simpler and easier to perform. That would be a good take, but we can take this one step further to find out the root of this problem. Looking back on it, as we progressed through time, so has our technology. But is technology really to blame for our low physical activity? Well, if we really check the details, we can find that ever since we’ve advanced into an age where we are more dependent on our electronics, we’ve depended less on our abilities. This led us to not move around as much to get exercise. Now that we found our problem, we just need a solution.

Since we have become too reliant on our technology, and that has caused us to not be active, we can’t just cut off all of our junk use to get back to our old ways. Instead, we can turn our problem with technology into our solution. A lot of people aren’t going outside very often for some needed exercise, so we can instead bring the exercise indoors with a treadmill. Maybe others are just not giving their bodies a challenge, so we could bring in weights to help us train our body. Whatever the issue is, we can every often fix our problems with a healthier approach to technology. We can replace our phone and screen addictions with equipment with keeping fit. Our bad habits with devices shouldn’t have control over us, but we always have the choice to turn our bad habits with better habits. There are of course many different ways to do this, but this can all start with simple reminders on your phone, and slowly building your way up to starting a fresh new journey of keeping fit with the fitness technology available to us today.
