My history as a reader has been somewhat stable. I used to read a lot of books when I was younger because the books were more interesting. The books that I read now are more pages, use big words, and sometimes the story isn’t very catchy. The books that I enjoy reading are books that relate to me, are adventurous, have mysteries, puzzles, investigation, or if it gives some type of advice to prepare me for the future (educational).
Some challenges in reading are when I read a whole chapter, and then think about what I just read and realize that I didn’t comprehend what I was reading, since I just read with my eyes and not my brain. That usually happens when a book is either not interesting or boring. I find it challenging when I go to read a book, and it has college level big words, and I don’t know the meaning and so I get lost in the book and I don’t understand what it is about.
I picked the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter to read for this reading journal. I picked this finance book because it teaches you how to be financially independent and rich. I find this book interesting because it doesn’t just tell you what to do but it gives a scenario of how he applied it to his life. One of the questions that it asks in the book that really made me wonder was, “How long would you survive if you stopped working?” That is how wealth should be determined, not by your income but your assets. Don’t work for money, have money work for you.
