When it came down to reading books, I only read what was read in class and I’ve only read 4 books, outside of encyclopedias and lyrics, in the summer of 2023. I don’t read a lot, but I do love listening to songs, reading lyrics, and listening to Financial Peace University podcasts. I love encyclopedias and fantasy books, but I can read a whole book, but I specifically like to read the book with a voice, mainly online, speaking to me instead of just speaking the book word by word for myself.
That’s the challenge I have reading a book, because without a book narrator speaking it to me, I either have to read silently and not waste my voice and/or breath, but at the same time, I don’t understand everything, or I can read the book out loud word for word and understand most of what’s going on at the start, but in the end, I’m tired because I took up lots of my breath and voice, and I wouldn’t have enough energy to pay attention to the rest of the plot of the book, and if someone like me read a full chapter of a book without the audio, he/she would be exhausted, too.
Despite the problem of having to read it to yourself, I like books like the ones Roald Dahl makes and C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia series because of their overall masterpieces. They tell great stories, make you see how the protagonist solves his/her problems, and have great plots. There’s also a lot of mystery I like about Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Roald Dahl’s books, etc. That’s why the book I chose was Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Another reason why I chose to read that book first is because Harry Potter is a series of books, which means the book and the topic most commonly only change timeline-wise, which I like because I like all my stories to be the same and in the same timeline, it has a really cool sounding wizardry castle, well, for a few days. Harry Potter has a very great sounding hero, a very great sounding villain, and overall, it feels like a pretty good book to read.
Good job! Avoid using he/she. Just use one. I hope your love of reading grows throughout the year.
